Software

Software used to be tricky. Now, with open source and an LLM, you'd be surprised how fast custom software, an app, or a websites can launch. The following are a number of solutions used in production with WordPress and Builght sites. More to come.

Altimeter

A WordPress theme for those of us who didn't want to adapt to Gutenberg. This is NOT a good theme if you don't know .php, .css, or the WordPress structures, but great for those of use who remember the glory days before 2018. Ships as-is!

I hope to have this available by Feb 13, 2026

OTRT Plugins

Again, for WordPress. Still in development but geared around Gutenberg and includes useful blocks for layout and animation.

I hope to have this available by Feb 13, 2026

Why Open?

Some of the most interesting tech that's developed/invented comes from people that are doing this either because they're good at it (and enjoy it) or they're getting paid to do it and might not love it. Either way, some software is just built and the group or person that is responsible for it decides to give it away. From a capitolist viewpoint, this seems obsurd. From a human perspective (without the filter) it makes sense.

How Can I Learn Code?

There are a number of resources online, but it's better if you join a community or subscribe to a feed that is deep into teaching code. There's an important distinction that may be very helpful when using the term, "code," and you should keep this in mind. First, there is markup (HTML, CSS, XML) and second there is programming (C, Python, .dart); the two are different. Markup is a (generally) set of of ... let's call them instructions. Programming, on the other hand, is a different language (like Spanish or Mandarin) all together and deals with altering, saving, reading, authorizing, and other functionalities. Where should you begin? A free resource: FreeCodeCamp.org. You can get started right away.
