Overview
Builght</> is a simplified approach to web development that organizes assets and content via .xml. It does not depend on a database or require an extensive setup apart from having .PHP on your hosting server. You can build a site with or with out an example layout. The example uses Bootstrap and an existing set of page layouts and sample code that you may use to what ever end. You are not paying for Bootstrap and in fact, the free version can easily (add two lines of code to both header.php and footer.php) have Bootstrap incorporated. No license or fee is required for the open version.
Why Builght</> and why not something else? There are other options for a number of reasons apart from this software, but the most direct reason for Builght</> is to remove the encapsulate non-developerrs, recognize the effort that was made on part of programmers and developers, and return responsibility to those who have mastered the skills of markup and code.
How does Builght</> stand up against other options like WordPress or Drupal? First, both are great options and have an amazing community behind them. Secondly, they both (currently) offer many extensions and plugins to enhance the site. It's a peculiar question in that these other options can be (and I've witnessed this more than I can count) handed off to a non-developer or someone that can't debug issues in code or software which leads to bloat and slow loading. Slow loading sites were ok in 2005 but are being held to much higher standards. Go ahead and use GTMetrix on https://outright.software/Builght</> and record the score. Then pick a site built with the other options and see how it stacks up.
The intent of this project is not to continuesly generate revenue, but to a point so that the paywall can be removed. That point is up to the author of this software who has invested years in trainig and would like to continue to contribute to the software community if possible. The other intent is to give you a tool to work with that requires a certain level of sophistication so that your team can not "catch-and-release" you. Think of it as an investment in yourself and the time you've put into your career through a software package. This software is restricted and distributed via a copyright license once you download it. See 'copyright.txt' for more information in the package you receive or read the non-commercial license and the commercial license.
Deployment
By clicking either of the options above, you'll be sent a zipped package with all of the files and folders needed (alongside .PHP, which is required from your hosting server) to launch a site. It also incudes the type of license you'll need for your site; whether it is or isn't commecial. These files are what you use to launch and build the site you'd like and you have two paths - one with a structured and fully functional site with bootstrap or a functional but very limited site without bootstrap.
Bootstrap isn't always adopted in web development regardless of it's widespread use. Some may opt for a .js + .css solution that better fits their needs. Either way, you'll be able to start editing the site using the /css in the /lib folder. You can also write to the corresponding .xml files that are inside the /data directory.
Unlike other, more complex, systems that are heavy on .PHP, Builght</> uses a lighter touch and the pages can be written to your liking. You pull the footer out of its file or polymorph it if you wished. Want to override a Bootstrap style? Write it in the /css or make a new stylesheet and completely redo the page structure. The minimal approach allows for more creativity on your part and faster customization.
Once your package is unzipped on your local machine, you can deploy it. You'll be given a unique password to quickly access the content of your site, but for security purposes, it is EXTREMELY important that you change it before uploading. When you upload, be sure to leave the /license and it's contents alone. It checks your license against a deployment verification. It is also suggested that answer42.php be left alone except for the alteration mentioned earlier.
